Welsh Charm: From My Great Aunt’s Dining Room to Your Mailbox
The Welsh language is woven into everything I do, but the inspiration for this collection was planted long ago in my Great Aunt’s dining room. As a little girl, I watched her transform a simple cup of tea, or panad, into something extraordinary. She would set the table with her finest china and delicate lace doilies, serving homemade sponge cake and bara brith with a level of hospitality that made everyone feel truly valued.
In that room, I learned that "Cariad"—our beautiful word for love—is best expressed through the intentional efforts we make to show others they are special.
I've brought that same spirit into my work through the art of collage. Just as my Great Aunt carefully arranged her table, I piece together colours, textures, and patterns to create each design. Whether it’s the vibrant Fuchsia Rose Bouquet or the playful Banana Fruit Bowl, every card is a handcrafted tribute to that warm Welsh hospitality.
The true purpose of this collection became clear during the quiet days of Covid. When we couldn't gather around a table, I realised how much we needed a way to share that same "Cariad" through the mail. I created these cards as a means to send a physical piece of care—a small, beautiful gesture delivered to a loved one’s door.
In a world full of quick texts, a physical card carries the same warmth as a long-remembered afternoon tea. It’s a way to stay truly connected and share a piece of your heart, no matter where you are.
The card collection will be available on the 25th of February. Be sure to check it out and share the love with your loved ones!
