The Flowers are in Bloom: Finding Your Own "Floral Whispers"

Hello friends! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet. I’m thrilled to share a fresh update that marks a significant new chapter in my creative journey. My latest collection, "Floral Whispers," celebrates nature at its most vibrant and lively, and I’ve found a new burst of inspiration by slowing down and observing the world around me. As a designer-maker and creativity coach, I love helping others tap into their own creative well, and my simple advice for finding inspiration is universal, no matter your season of life: step outside, slow down, and let your curiosity lead the way.

Here are some fun and practical ways I’ve discovered my own "Floral Whispers" and brought a bit of fresh, natural energy into my life. While my most recent inspiration came on walks in nature with my baby, these practices can be enjoyed by anyone, anywhere.

1.***Take a "Sensory Walk."***

This is more about enjoying the experience than rushing to a destination. Try using the "5, 4, 3, 2, 1" technique: consciously notice 5 things you can see (like the glimmer of light on a leaf), 4 things you can touch (like the texture of tree bark), 3 things you can hear (like birds chirping), 2 things you can smell (like the earthy scent after a rain), and 1 thing you can taste (maybe your tea or a nice breeze). This practice helps you stay grounded and reveals those little creative details that are easy to overlook.

2.***Create a Natural Colour Palette.***

Pick a single colour—like green—and notice all the different shades in nature. A blade of grass is different from a leaf, and one leaf in shadow has its own unique vibe compared to one in sunlight. Take photos or jot down notes to help sharpen your colour-mixing skills and train your eye to pick up on those subtle differences.

3.***Focus on Patterns and Textures.***

Nature is a treasure trove of intricate patterns! Find something interesting, like a pine cone or a feather, and explore its textures and lines. Whether sketching or snapping a photo, enhance your attention to detail and discover new design ideas along the way.

4.***Use a "Found Objects" Art Piece.***

When you're out for a walk, collect fallen leaves, petals, or twigs, focusing on a fun theme—like colours, textures, or shapes. Whether on your own or with a little helper, it's fun to explore these natural treasures. Try creating a gorgeous flat lay or a natural mandala with your finds.

5.***Find Inspiration in Movement.***

The world is always moving! Watch how branches sway in the breeze or how flowers turn towards the sun. Do some quick, energetic sketches to capture that essence, letting go of the need for perfection.

The "Floral Whispers" collection is all about embracing this process of slowing down and observing. As you explore the collection, I hope it inspires you to uncover your own creative spark right outside your door, whether you have five minutes or a whole afternoon.

Happy creating!
